mt76: fix use-after-free by removing a non-RCU wcid pointer
Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
mt76: fix use-after-free by removing a non-RCU wcid pointer
Fixes an issue caught by KASAN about use-after-free in mt76_txq_schedule
by protecting mtxq->wcid with rcu_lock between mt76_txq_schedule and
sta_info_[alloc, free].
AV:A - The UAF is in the mt76 WiFi TX scheduling path during station removal; mt76 commonly runs as an AP (OpenWrt/mt7615/mt7915) or client where an on-link WiFi peer can force disassoc/deauth and race concurrent TX. This is same-segment wireless reachability, not internet-remote or host-local-only.
AC:L - The attacker can drive both sides of the race—generate traffic that keeps TX queues active and force station removal via disconnect/deauth—and can retry indefinitely. Attacker-controlled races and UAFs score AC:L.
PR:N - Station removal and in-flight TX are reachable from the wireless medium (peer deauth/disassoc or a client leaving an mt76 AP) with no privileges on the host kernel. No CAP_NET_ADMIN or local account is required in the AP/hotspot worst case.
UI:N - Exploitation needs no victim user action beyond normal network operation; the attacker triggers disconnect and concurrent TX themselves.
S:U - This is in-kernel memory corruption within the host kernel’s security authority, not a VM/IOMMU/sandbox boundary crossing.
C:H - mt76_txq_schedule dereferences a freed sta-embedded wcid via the non-RCU mtxq->wcid pointer; UAF enables control of freed object contents and thus arbitrary read primitives.
I:H - The same wcid UAF is heap memory corruption exploitable for arbitrary write and control-flow hijack via TX scheduling after station free.
A:H - Use-after-free on the TX worker path can oops/panic the kernel even without full exploitation, so availability impact is High."

The MITRE ATT&CK techniques below are AI-generated suggestions, inferred from the description of the
vulnerability by the CIRCL/vulnerability-attack-technique-classification-roberta-base
model, served locally by ML-Gateway.
They have not been verified by an analyst and are provided for guidance only.
The approach is described in our paper Mapping CVEs to MITRE ATT&CK Techniques: A Curated Gold-Set Classifier and the Limits of LLM-Assisted Label Expansion.
