CVE-2026-90882 (GCVE-0-2026-90882)

Title
Reflected arbitrary origins with credentials, allowing cross-origin reads of authenticated user data
Summary
The open-vsx.org deployment returned Access-Control-Allow-Origin reflecting the requesting origin together with Access-Control-Allow-Credentials: true on the authenticated /user/ endpoints. A page on any origin could therefore issue credentialed requests to the service in a logged-in user's browser and read the responses. This exposed /user (login name, avatar, homepage, tokens URL), /user/tokens, /user/namespaces, /user/extensions, /user/search/{name} and /user/namespace/{name}/members, and — because /user/csrf was readable the same way — allowed the CSRF protection on write endpoints to be defeated. Chaining the two, an attacker page could call /user/token/create and exfiltrate a personal access token carrying publish and delete rights over the victim's namespaces. The headers were emitted by the CDN/edge layer, not by the application: the Open VSX software sets allowCredentials(true) in exactly one place, against a single exact origin derived from ovsx.webui.url, and defines no CORS mapping on /user/ beyond it. No configuration of the software produces origin reflection with credentials.

Title
Windows ML CLI: CORS misconfig enables localhost RCE
Summary
Windows ML CLI is a command line tool for building portable, performant, and high-quality AI models for Windows ML. Prior to 0.4.0, the src/winml/modelkit/serve/cli_api.py component exposes WinML CLI commands through a localhost HTTP API without authentication and configures the allow_origins setting as a wildcard in both src/winml/modelkit/serve/cli_api.py and src/winml/modelkit/serve/app.py. A malicious website loaded by a user can send cross-origin requests to /v1/cli/build or /v1/cli/config and set the trust_remote_code parameter to true, which is converted to the --trust-remote-code command-line flag without validation. This reaches AutoConfig.from_pretrained with trust_remote_code=True in src/winml/modelkit/loader/_autoconfig.py and imports Python code from an attacker-controlled model repository, resulting in arbitrary code execution as the server user. This issue is fixed in version 0.4.0.

Title
Apache Storm Webapp: Authenticated API Responses Exposed to Arbitrary Web Origins
Summary
Description Three separate mechanisms allowed a web page on an unrelated origin to read responses that Storm's HTTP components served to an authenticated user. The Logviewer reflected the request's `Origin` header back in `Access-Control-Allow-Origin` while also sending `Access-Control-Allow-Credentials: true`. The published security model documents a permissive `Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *` posture as accepted, which is safe precisely because browsers refuse to honour `*` together with credentials; reflecting the concrete origin removes that protection. The shared CORS filter used by the UI, the Logviewer and DRPC was configured with a response header name where an initialisation parameter name was expected. The container ignored the setting and applied its own defaults, which allow credentials. Finally, the UI and Logviewer wrapped API responses in a caller-supplied JSONP callback for every GET request. A script element on any origin can load such a response, which bypasses the same-origin policy entirely rather than negotiating it, and there was no way to turn the behaviour off. In each case the effect is that a page visited by an authenticated operator can read cluster, topology and log data on their behalf. Mitigation Upgrade to 3.1.0, where the Logviewer no longer reflects the request origin in a credentialed response, the CORS filter is configured explicitly, and JSONP wrapping is governed by `ui.enable.jsonp`, which defaults to false. Note that disabling JSONP is a behaviour change for tooling that passes a `callback` query parameter; such tooling should be moved to ordinary JSON requests. Users who cannot upgrade immediately should place the UI, Logviewer and DRPC HTTP endpoints behind a reverse proxy that strips `Access-Control-Allow-Origin` and `Access-Control-Allow-Credentials` from responses and rejects requests carrying a `callback` parameter. Credit The ASF -- found using Claude agents to study the security of open-source projects, validated and reported by Apache Storm.

The container ignored the setting and applied its own\ndefaults, which allow credentials.\n\nFinally, the UI and Logviewer wrapped API responses in a caller-supplied JSONP callback for every GET\nrequest. A script element on any origin can load such a response, which bypasses the same-origin policy\nentirely rather than negotiating it, and there was no way to turn the behaviour off.\n\nIn each case the effect is that a page visited by an authenticated operator can read cluster, topology and\nlog data on their behalf.\n\nMitigation\n\nUpgrade to 3.1.0, where the Logviewer no longer reflects the request origin in a credentialed response, the\nCORS filter is configured explicitly, and JSONP wrapping is governed by `ui.enable.jsonp`, which defaults to\nfalse.\n\nNote that disabling JSONP is a behaviour change for tooling that passes a `callback` query parameter; such\ntooling should be moved to ordinary JSON requests.\n\nUsers who cannot upgrade immediately should place the UI, Logviewer and DRPC HTTP endpoints behind a reverse\nproxy that strips `Access-Control-Allow-Origin` and `Access-Control-Allow-Credentials` from responses and\nrejects requests carrying a `callback` parameter.\n\nCredit\n\nThe ASF -- found using Claude agents to study the security of open-source projects, validated and reported by Apache Storm."

Title
Electron: Custom protocol with supportFetchAPI but not corsEnabled allows cross-origin reads
Summary
Electron is a framework for writing cross-platform desktop applications using JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Prior to 39.8.10, 40.9.3, 41.4.0, and 42.0.0, a custom scheme registered with supportFetchAPI: true but without corsEnabled: true was not subject to CORS enforcement. A page loaded from a remote origin could therefore fetch() or XMLHttpRequest that scheme cross-origin and read the full response body, rather than the read being blocked. Apps that serve sensitive data from such a scheme and load remote or untrusted content in a renderer are affected. This issue is fixed in versions 39.8.10, 40.9.3, 41.4.0, and 42.0.0.

Title
Glances: REST API CORS Credentials Guard Uses Exact-Match Instead of Membership Test — Bypassed by Any Multi-Origin Allowlist Containing the Wildcard
Summary
Glances is an open-source system cross-platform monitoring tool. Prior to 4.5.6, the cors_origins guard in glances/outputs/glances_restful_api.py uses exact list equality instead of wildcard membership, allowing a multi-origin list containing the wildcard to retain cors_credentials and expose authenticated REST API data to an untrusted website visited by a previously authenticated user. This issue is fixed in 4.5.6.

Title
RabbitMQ: CORS * reflects Origin with Allow-Credentials
Summary
RabbitMQ is a messaging and streaming broker. Prior to versions 3.13.17, 4.0.22, 4.1.13, and 4.2.6, match_origin/1 returned the bare reflected Origin and allowed credentials even when the wildcard "" was configured, so the response echoed the attacker's origin together with Access-Control-Allow-Credentials. The affected code is rabbit_mgmt_cors.erl. When the management plugin is configured with a wildcard CORS origin (cors_allow_origins = ""), the handler reflects the request Origin back in Access-Control-Allow-Origin and also sends Access-Control-Allow-Credentials: true. A malicious web page that a signed-in administrator visits can then use that administrator's cached HTTP Basic credentials to issue authenticated, state-changing requests to the management API. Preconditions include The management plugin is configured with the wildcard cors_allow_origins = "*", which is an explicit operator misconfiguration A target administrator has a cached HTTP Basic-auth session in the browser. This issue is fixed in versions 3.13.17, 4.0.22, 4.1.13, and 4.2.6.

Mitigation
Architecture and Design Operation

Strategy: Attack Surface Reduction

Define a restrictive Content Security Policy [REF-1486] or cross-domain policy file.

Mitigation
Architecture and Design Operation

Strategy: Attack Surface Reduction

Avoid using wildcards in the CSP / cross-domain policy file. Any domain matching the wildcard expression will be implicitly trusted, and can perform two-way interaction with the target server.

Mitigation
Architecture and Design Operation

Strategy: Environment Hardening

For Flash, modify crossdomain.xml to use meta-policy options such as 'master-only' or 'none' to reduce the possibility of an attacker planting extraneous cross-domain policy files on a server.
