Title
Double free of the USB host configuration descriptor when device enumeration fails
Summary
The experimental USB host stack allocates a per-device configuration-descriptor buffer, udev->cfg_desc, from the dedicated usb_device_heap in usbh_device_set_configuration() (subsys/usb/host/usbh_device.c). On three failure paths — a failed full-length GET_DESCRIPTOR(CONFIGURATION) read, a mismatch between the short and full descriptor reads, and a rejected descriptor in parse_configuration_descriptor() — the buffer was released with k_heap_free() but the pointer was left dangling. The cleanup in usbh_device_free() is guarded only by if (udev->cfg_desc != NULL), so it frees the same block a second time.
The path is driven entirely by the attached peripheral: usbh_device_connect() calls usbh_device_init(), which ends in usbh_device_set_configuration(), and on failure usbh_device_connect() calls usbh_device_free(). On v4.4.x this happens during the same enumeration, with no unplug required; on v4.1.0–v4.3.x the second free instead arrives via dev_removed_handler()/dev_connected_handler() in subsys/usb/host/usbh_core.c, so it requires a removal or duplicate-connect event after the failed enumeration — a sequence the attached device fully controls. A malicious or malformed USB device only has to answer the first 9-byte configuration-descriptor request with a well-formed header and then fail any of the three checks, for example by returning a full descriptor whose interface count disagrees with bNumInterfaces, or by answering the second read with different bytes.
The result is a double free on usb_device_heap. On builds where lib/heap hardening is active (the current default CONFIG_SYS_HEAP_HARDENING_BASIC), sys_heap_free() detects the already-free chunk and calls k_panic(), giving a deterministic, peripheral-triggered denial of service of the USB host. On builds without that detection — earlier releases, or CONFIG_SYS_HEAP_HARDENING_NONE — the second free manipulates a chunk already on the free list, corrupting the heap's free list so that later allocations can return overlapping or invalid blocks.
Exploitation beyond denial of service is bounded by the fact that usb_device_heap is a small dedicated heap (CONFIG_USBH_USB_DEVICE_HEAP, default 1024 bytes) whose only client is this descriptor buffer, and by CONFIG_USB_HOST_STACK being marked experimental and disabled by default. The fix sets udev->cfg_desc = NULL after every k_heap_free(), making the cleanup guard sound.

Title
Libarchive: double-free vulnerability in rar5 decompression logic via dangling filtered_buf pointer in init_unpack()
Summary
A double free issue has been identified in libarchive's RAR5 reader. During parsing of a specially crafted RAR5 archive, the filtered_buf pointer may remain stale after being freed during unpacking state reinitialization. Subsequent processing of another archive entry can trigger a second free of the same memory region, resulting in a double-free condition. Successful exploitation may cause applications using the vulnerable libarchive API to terminate unexpectedly, leading to a denial of service.

Title
YAML::Syck versions before 1.47 for Perl allow a use-after-free and double-free via an anchor node freed while still on the parser value stack
Summary
YAML::Syck versions before 1.47 for Perl allow a use-after-free and double-free via an anchor node freed while still on the parser value stack.
In the bundled libsyck, when an anchor name is redefined or removed, syck_hdlr_add_anchor and syck_hdlr_remove_anchor free the node stored under that name with syck_free_node. That node can still be live on the parser's value stack, so syck_hdlr_add_node reaches it again and frees it a second time. On a normal build the 48-byte node chunk is freed twice and the interpreter aborts. Anchors need no special flags, so this is reached on the default Load path, and a 7-byte document that redefines an anchor triggers it.
Any caller that runs Load or LoadFile on an untrusted document that redefines an anchor mid-parse crashes the interpreter, a denial of service.

That node can still be live on the parser\u0027s value stack, so syck_hdlr_add_node reaches it again and frees it a second time. On a normal build the 48-byte node chunk is freed twice and the interpreter aborts. Anchors need no special flags, so this is reached on the default Load path, and a 7-byte document that redefines an anchor triggers it.\n\nAny caller that runs Load or LoadFile on an untrusted document that redefines an anchor mid-parse crashes the interpreter, a denial of service."

Title
Heap double-free in AWS Common Runtime aws-c-http
Summary
Improper handling of HPACK dynamic table size updates in the AWS Common Runtime aws-c-http library might allow a remote threat actor operating a server to cause memory corruption on a connecting client application, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution, via a crafted sequence of HTTP/2 HEADERS frames.
To remediate this issue, users should upgrade to aws-c-http version 0.11.0.

Title
Double-free / use-after-free in Realtek BEE Bluetooth HCI driver `send()` error paths
Summary
The Realtek BEE Bluetooth HCI driver's send callback, bt_hci_bee_send() in drivers/bluetooth/hci/hci_bee.c, violated the bt_hci_driver_api buffer-ownership contract. That contract requires the driver to consume (unref) the transmit net_buf only on success; on an error return the host caller retains ownership and unrefs the buffer itself. The pre-fix code routed all error paths through a shared cleanup label that unconditionally called net_buf_unref(buf) before returning the error code.
Because the host TX paths (in subsys/bluetooth/host/hci_core.c) unref the buffer again after send() returns an error, the buffer is freed twice: the driver returns it to its net_buf pool and the host then unrefs the already-freed buffer, corrupting the shared pool / underflowing the reference count (CWE-415). The same error branch additionally dereferenced buf->len inside a LOG_ERR call after the buffer had already been unref'd, a read of freed memory (CWE-416) that is compiled in at the default error log level.
The failing edges are reached when the controller's host-to-controller buffer allocation fails or the controller send fails (resource-exhaustion / IO conditions). A remote Bluetooth peer can push the device toward these conditions indirectly by driving heavy host transmit activity, at which point the double-free corrupts the host net_buf pool and most likely crashes the device, with residual potential for further memory corruption. The impact is confined to builds using this specific Realtek BEE HCI driver.
The fix returns early from each error path without unreffing and unrefs the buffer only on the success path, restoring the ownership contract and eliminating both the double-free and the use-after-free read.

Title
Double free / use-after-free in Bouffalo Lab HCI driver send() error paths (hci_bflb)
Summary
The Bluetooth HCI driver for Bouffalo Lab on-chip BLE controllers (BL60x/BL70x/BL61x), bt_bflb_send() in drivers/bluetooth/hci/hci_bflb.c, violates the bt_hci_driver_api.send() buffer-ownership contract. That contract (documented at include/zephyr/drivers/bluetooth.h) requires the buffer reference to be consumed only on success; on error the caller still owns the reference and unrefs it. The driver instead routed all error paths through a shared label that unconditionally called net_buf_unref(buf) before returning the error code, consuming the buffer on failure as well.
When send() returns an error, the host TX path (send_buf() in subsys/bluetooth/host/conn.c) unrefs the same buffer again, believing it still owns it. This double-unref over-decrements the net_buf reference count. Because the buffer is a TX fragment whose destroy callback also decrements its still-queued parent buffer, the parent is freed prematurely while reachable on the connection TX queue, producing a use-after-free and corruption of the shared net_buf pool rather than a benign leak.
The error conditions are on the host-to-controller transmit path (controller send failure, or an unsupported H:4 packet type), so they are not driven directly by attacker-supplied radio bytes; a remote/adjacent peer can influence them only indirectly, e.g. by inducing controller TX failures under heavy link load. The consequence when reached is BLE-stack denial of service (crash / pool corruption) with possible further memory corruption, bounded to devices using one of these Bouffalo Lab on-chip controllers.

Summary
The security fix for CVE-2025-0728 in eclipse-threadx NetX Duo refactors error handling in the HTTP server PUT process to use a shared cleanup label, but this unified cleanup path unconditionally calls fx_file_close() even when the file was never successfully opened. Multiple error branches jump to the shared cleanup label before any file open operation has occurred, causing fx_file_close() to operate on an uninitialized file handle, leading to undefined behavior, double-close issues, or memory corruption.

Mitigation
Architecture and Design
Choose a language that provides automatic memory management.
Mitigation
Implementation
Ensure that each allocation is freed only once. After freeing a chunk, set the pointer to NULL to ensure the pointer cannot be freed again. In complicated error conditions, be sure that clean-up routines respect the state of allocation properly. If the language is object oriented, ensure that object destructors delete each chunk of memory only once.
Mitigation
Implementation
Use a static analysis tool to find double free instances.
