CVE-2026-45897 — netfilter: nft_counter: serialize reset with spinlock

Affected: Linux

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

netfilter: nft_counter: serialize reset with spinlock

Add a global static spinlock to serialize counter fetch+reset
operations, preventing concurrent dump-and-reset from underrunning
values.

The lock is taken before fetching the total so that two parallel
resets cannot both read the same counter values and then both
subtract them.

A global lock is used for simplicity since resets are infrequent.
If this becomes a bottleneck, it can be replaced with a per-net
lock later.

Affected: Ubuntu:24.04:LTS: linux, Ubuntu:24.04:LTS: linux-aws, Ubuntu:24.04:LTS: linux-gcp, Ubuntu:24.04:LTS: linux-gke, Ubuntu:24.04:LTS: linux-gkeop, Ubuntu:24.04:LTS: linux-ibm, Ubuntu:24.04:LTS: linux-lowlatency, Ubuntu:24.04:LTS: linux-oracle, Ubuntu:Pro:Realtime:24.04:LTS: linux-realtime, Ubuntu:Pro:FIPS-updates:24.04:LTS: linux-aws-fips and 2 more

It was discovered that some AMD processors did not properly perform Reverse
Map Table (RMP) checks when the IOMMU accessed certain host buffers. A
local attacker with hypervisor access could possibly use this to trigger an
out-of-bounds condition and compromise the integrity of SEV-SNP guest
memory. (CVE-2023-20585)

Several security issues were discovered in the Linux kernel.
An attacker could possibly use these to compromise the system.
This update corrects flaws in the following subsystems:
 - NVDIMM (Non-Volatile Memory Device) drivers;
 - Handshake API;
 - ARM32 architecture;
 - ARM64 architecture;
