CVE-2025-38559 — platform/x86/intel/pmt: fix a crashlog NULL pointer access

Affected: Linux

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

platform/x86/intel/pmt: fix a crashlog NULL pointer access

Usage of the intel_pmt_read() for binary sysfs, requires a pcidev. The
current use of the endpoint value is only valid for telemetry endpoint
usage.

Without the ep, the crashlog usage causes the following NULL pointer
exception:

BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000000
Oops: Oops: 0000 [#1] SMP NOPTI
RIP: 0010:intel_pmt_read+0x3b/0x70 [pmt_class]
Code:
Call Trace:

Augment struct intel_pmt_entry with a pointer to the pcidev to avoid
the NULL pointer exception.

USN-7879-1 — linux, linux-aws, linux-gcp, linux-hwe-6.14, linux-oracle, linux-realtime vulnerabilities

Affected: Ubuntu:24.04:LTS: linux-hwe-6.14

It was discovered that improper initialization of CPU cache memory could
allow a local attacker with hypervisor access to overwrite SEV-SNP guest
memory resulting in loss of data integrity. (CVE-2024-36331)

Several security issues were discovered in the Linux kernel.
An attacker could possibly use these to compromise the system.
This update corrects flaws in the following subsystems:
 - ARM64 architecture;
 - PowerPC architecture;
 - S390 architecture;
 - x86 architecture;
 - Network block device driver;
 - Character device driver;
