CVE-2020-1377 — Windows Registry Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability

Affected: Microsoft Windows 10 Version 1803, Microsoft Windows 10 Version 1809, Microsoft Windows Server 2019, Microsoft Windows Server 2019 (Server Core installation), Microsoft Windows 10 Version 1909, Microsoft Windows Server, version 1909 (Server Core installation), Microsoft Windows 10 Version 1709 for 32-bit Systems, Microsoft Windows 10 Version 1709, Microsoft Windows 10 Version 1903 for 32-bit Systems, Microsoft Windows 10 Version 1903 for x64-based Systems and 20 more

An elevation of privilege vulnerability exists when the Windows Kernel API improperly handles registry objects in memory. An attacker who successfully exploited the vulnerability could gain elevated privileges on a targeted system.
A locally authenticated attacker could exploit this vulnerability by running a specially crafted application.
The security update addresses the vulnerability by helping to ensure that the Windows Kernel API properly handles objects in memory.
