In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

drm/fbdev-dma: Only set smem_start is enable per module option

Only export struct fb_info.fix.smem_start if that is required by the
user and the memory does not come from vmalloc().

Setting struct fb_info.fix.smem_start breaks systems where DMA
memory is backed by vmalloc address space. An example error is
shown below.

UBUNTU-CVE-2024-41094

Affected: Ubuntu:16.04:LTS: linux-hwe-edge, Ubuntu:18.04:LTS: linux-aws-5.0, Ubuntu:18.04:LTS: linux-aws-5.3, Ubuntu:18.04:LTS: linux-azure, Ubuntu:18.04:LTS: linux-azure-5.3, Ubuntu:18.04:LTS: linux-azure-edge, Ubuntu:18.04:LTS: linux-gcp, Ubuntu:18.04:LTS: linux-gcp-5.3, Ubuntu:18.04:LTS: linux-gke-4.15, Ubuntu:18.04:LTS: linux-gke-5.4 and 89 more

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/fbdev-dma: Only set smem_start is enable per module option Only export struct fb_info.fix.smem_start if that is required by the user and the memory does not come from vmalloc(). Setting struct fb_info.fix.smem_start breaks systems where DMA memory is backed by vmalloc address space. An example error is shown below.
