ALSA-2022:0825 — Important: kernel security, bug fix, and enhancement update

Affected: AlmaLinux:8: kernel-tools-libs-devel

The kernel packages contain the Linux kernel, the core of any Linux operating system.

The following packages have been upgraded to a later upstream version: kernel (4.18.0). (BZ#2036888)

Security Fix(es):

* kernel: improper initialization of the "flags" member of the new pipe_buffer (CVE-2022-0847)

* kernel: Use After Free in unix_gc() which could result in a local privilege escalation (CVE-2021-0920)

* kernel: local privilege escalation by exploiting the fsconfig syscall parameter leads to container breakout (CVE-2021-4154)

* kernel: possible privileges escalation due to missing TLB flush (CVE-2022-0330)

* kernel: remote stack overflow via kernel panic on systems using TIPC may lead to DoS (CVE-2022-0435)

* kernel: cgroups v1 release_agent feature may allow privilege escalation (CVE-2022-0492)

* kernel: missing check in ioctl allows kernel memory read/write (CVE-2022-0516)

* kernel: failing usercopy allows for use-after-free exploitation (CVE-2022-22942)

For more details about the security issue(s), including the impact, a CVSS score, acknowledgments, and other related information, refer to the CVE page(s) listed in the References section.

Bug Fix(es):

* Intel QAT Kernel power up fix (BZ#2016437)

* AlmaLinux8.4 seeing scsi_dma_map failed with mpt3sas driver and affecting performance (BZ#2018928)

The CivetWeb web library does not validate uploaded filepaths when running on an OS other than Windows, when using the built-in HTTP form-based file upload mechanism, via the mg_handle_form_request API. Web applications that use the file upload form handler, and use parts of the user-controlled filename in the output path, are susceptible to directory traversal A corrupted timer tree caused the task wakeup to be missing in the timerqueue_add function in lib/timerqueue.c. This flaw allows a local attacker with special user privileges to cause a denial of service, slowing and eventually stopping the system while running OSP. The use of alloca function with an uncontrolled size in function unit_name_path_escape allows a local attacker, able to mount a filesystem on a very long path, to crash systemd and the whole system by allocating a very large space in the stack. A race condition vulnerability was found in Go. The incoming requests body weren't closed after the handler panic and as a consequence this could lead to ReverseProxy crash. The fix for CVE-2021-33196 can be bypassed by crafted inputs. As a result, the NewReader and OpenReader functions in archive/zip can still cause a panic or an unrecoverable fatal error when reading an archive that claims to contain a large number of files, regardless of its actual size.

An issue was discovered in shadow 4.5. newgidmap (in shadow-utils) is setuid and allows an unprivileged user to be placed in a user namespace where setgroups(2) is permitted. This allows an attacker to remove themselves from a supplementary group, which may allow access to certain filesystem paths if the administrator has used "group blacklisting" (e.g., chmod g-rwx) to restrict access to paths. This flaw effectively reverts a security feature in the kernel (in particular, the /proc/self/setgroups knob) to prevent this sort of privilege escalation. GnuPG 2.2.4 and 2.2.5 does not enforce a configuration in which key certification requires an offline master Certify key, which results in apparently valid certifications that occurred only with access to a signing subkey. remember_Ktype in cplus-dem.c in GNU libiberty, as distributed in GNU Binutils 2.30, allows attackers to trigger excessive memory consumption (aka OOM). This can occur during execution of cxxfilt. binutils version 2.32 and earlier contains a Integer Overflow vulnerability in objdump, bfd_get_dynamic_reloc_upper_bound,bfd_canonicalize_dynamic_reloc that can result in Integer overflow trigger heap overflow. Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.. This attack appear to be exploitable via Local. This vulnerability appears to have been fixed in after commit 3a551c7a1b80fca579461774860574eabfd7f18f. libseccomp before 2.4.0 did not correctly generate 64-bit syscall argument comparisons using the ar…
