CVE-2020-16910 — Windows Security Feature Bypass Vulnerability

Affected: Microsoft Windows 10 Version 1803, Microsoft Windows 10 Version 1809, Microsoft Windows Server 2019, Microsoft Windows Server 2019 (Server Core installation), Microsoft Windows 10 Version 1909, Microsoft Windows Server, version 1909 (Server Core installation), Microsoft Windows 10 Version 1709 for 32-bit Systems, Microsoft Windows 10 Version 1709, Microsoft Windows 10 Version 1903 for 32-bit Systems, Microsoft Windows 10 Version 1903 for x64-based Systems and 8 more

A security feature bypass vulnerability exists when Microsoft Windows fails to handle file creation permissions, which could allow an attacker to create files in a protected Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) location.

To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker could run a specially crafted application to bypass Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) variable security in Windows.

The security update addresses the vulnerability by correcting security feature behavior to enforce permissions.
