    <title>CVE-2023-1194 — Use-after-free in parse_lease_state()</title>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p><strong>Affected:</strong> kernel, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9, Fedora</p>
<p>An out-of-bounds (OOB) memory read flaw was found in parse_lease_state in the KSMBD implementation of the in-kernel samba server and CIFS in the Linux kernel. When an attacker sends the CREATE command with a malformed payload to KSMBD, due to a missing check of `NameOffset` in the `parse_lease_state()` function, the `create_context` object can access invalid memory.</p></div>

<p>Chih-Yen Chang discovered that the KSMBD implementation in the Linux kernel
did not properly validate certain data structure fields when parsing lease
contexts, leading to an out-of-bounds read vulnerability. A remote attacker
could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash) or possibly
expose sensitive information. (CVE-2023-1194)</p>
<p>Quentin Minster discovered that a race condition existed in the KSMBD
implementation in the Linux kernel, leading to a use-after-free
vulnerability. A remote attacker could use this to cause a denial of
service (system crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2023-32254)</p>
<p>It was discovered that a race condition existed in the KSMBD implementation
in the Linux kernel when handling session connections, leading to a use-
after-free vulnerability. A remote attacker could use this to cause a
denial of service (system crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code.

<p>It was discovered that the KSMBD implementation in the Linux kernel did not
properly validate buffer sizes in certain operations, leading to an integer
underflow and out-of-bounds read vulnerability. A remote attacker could use
this to cause a denial of service (system crash) or possibly expose
sensitive information. (CVE-2023-38427)</p>
