<p>can: j1939: implement NETDEV_UNREGISTER notification handler</p>
<p>syzbot is reporting</p>
<p>unregister_netdevice: waiting for vcan0 to become free. Usage count = 2</p>
<p>problem, for j1939 protocol did not have NETDEV_UNREGISTER notification
handler for undoing changes made by j1939_sk_bind().</p>
<p>Commit 25fe97cb7620 ("can: j1939: move j1939_priv_put() into sk_destruct
callback") expects that a call to j1939_priv_put() can be unconditionally
delayed until j1939_sk_sock_destruct() is called. But we need to call
j1939_priv_put() against an extra ref held by j1939_sk_bind() call
(as a part of undoing changes made by j1939_sk_bind()) as soon as
NETDEV_UNREGISTER notification fires (i.e. before j1939_sk_sock_destruct()
is called via j1939_sk_release()). Otherwise, the extra ref on "struct
j1939_priv" held by j1939_sk_bind() call prevents "struct net_device" from
dropping the usage count to 1; making it impossible for
unregister_netdevice() to continue.</p>

<p>In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:</p>
<p>net: fec: remove .ndo_poll_controller to avoid deadlocks</p>
<p>There is a deadlock issue found in sungem driver, please refer to the
commit ac0a230f719b (&amp;quot;eth: sungem: remove .ndo_poll_controller to avoid
deadlocks&amp;quot;). The root cause of the issue is that netpoll is in atomic
context and disable_irq() is called by .ndo_poll_controller interface
of sungem driver, however, disable_irq() might sleep. After analyzing
the implementation of fec_poll_controller(), the fec driver should have
the same issue. Due to the fec driver uses NAPI for TX completions, the
.ndo_poll_controller is unnecessary to be implemented in the fec driver,
so fec_poll_controller() can be safely removed.(CVE-2024-38553)</p>
<p>In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:</p>
<p>ceph: give up on paths longer than PATH_MAX</p>
<p>If the full path to be built by ceph_mdsc_build_path() happens to be
longer than PATH_MAX, then this function will enter an endless (retry)
loop, effectively blocking the whole task.  Most of the machine
becomes unusable, making this a very simple and effective DoS
vulnerability.</p>
<p>I cannot imagine why this retry was ever implemented, but it seems
rather useless and harmful to me.  Let&amp;apos;s remove it and fail with
ENAMETOOLONG instead.(CVE-2024-53685)</p>
