Vulnerability from github – Published: 2022-05-14 01:04 – Updated: 2022-07-01 21:56Jenkins 2.73.1 and earlier, 2.83 and earlier bundled a version of the commons-httpclient library with the vulnerability CVE-2012-6153 that incorrectly verified SSL certificates, making it susceptible to man-in-the-middle attacks. This library is widely used as a transitive dependency in Jenkins plugins. The fix for CVE-2012-6153 was backported to the version of commons-httpclient that is bundled in core and made available to plugins.

GHSA-FR4G-M728-G2MF
Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-09-18 15:32 – Updated: 2026-09-18 15:32rustls-webpki (rustls/webpki) versions 0.101.0 through 0.103.11 and 0.104.0-alpha releases before 0.104.0-alpha.6 ignore X.509 name constraints that apply to URI names, causing such constraints to be accepted rather than enforced. Because name constraints are restrictions on otherwise properly issued certificates, the flaw is only reachable after successful signature verification and requires a misissued certificate to exploit; the library also provides no API for asserting URI names, and URI name constraints are otherwise unimplemented. Versions 0.103.12 and 0.104.0-alpha.6 reject URI name constraints unconditionally.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2026-08-31 09:30 – Updated: 2026-10-05 22:51Duplicate Advisory
This advisory has been withdrawn because it is a duplicate of GHSA-r7g4-qg5f-qqm2. This link is maintained to preserve external references.
Original Description
Nodemailer before 8.0.8 disables TLS certificate verification in lib/fetch/index.js through rejectUnauthorized: false, allowing attackers to intercept OAuth2 token requests. Attackers in a machine-in-the-middle position can capture OAuth client secrets, refresh tokens, and access tokens transmitted over compromised HTTPS connections.

Vulnerability from github – Published: 2022-05-24 17:26 – Updated: 2022-05-24 17:26MailMate before 1.11 automatically imported S/MIME certificates and thereby silently replaced existing ones. This allowed a man-in-the-middle attacker to obtain an email-validated S/MIME certificate from a trusted CA and replace the public key of the entity to be impersonated. This enabled the attacker to decipher further communication. The entire attack could be accomplished by sending a single email.

Mitigation
Certificates should be carefully managed and checked to assure that data are encrypted with the intended owner's public key.
Mitigation
If certificate pinning is being used, ensure that all relevant properties of the certificate are fully validated before the certificate is pinned, including the hostname.
CAPEC-459: Creating a Rogue Certification Authority Certificate
An adversary exploits a weakness resulting from using a hashing algorithm with weak collision resistance to generate certificate signing requests (CSR) that contain collision blocks in their "to be signed" parts. The adversary submits one CSR to be signed by a trusted certificate authority then uses the signed blob to make a second certificate appear signed by said certificate authority. Due to the hash collision, both certificates, though different, hash to the same value and so the signed blob works just as well in the second certificate. The net effect is that the adversary's second X.509 certificate, which the Certification Authority has never seen, is now signed and validated by that Certification Authority.
CAPEC-475: Signature Spoofing by Improper Validation
An adversary exploits a cryptographic weakness in the signature verification algorithm implementation to generate a valid signature without knowing the key.
