Title
Security Hardener <= 2.4.4 - Authenticated (Subscriber+) Privilege Escalation via REST API '/wp/v2/users' permission_callback Overwrite
Summary
The Security Hardener plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Missing Authorization in all versions up to, and including, 2.4.4. The vulnerability exists because the plugin's user-enumeration protection, which is enabled by default, hooks the rest_endpoints filter via secure_user_endpoints() and overwrites every registered handler's permission_callback on both the /wp/v2/users and /wp/v2/users/(?P<id>[\d]+) routes — including POST, PUT, PATCH, and DELETE handlers — with a bare closure that returns only is_user_logged_in(), completely stripping WordPress Core's original capability checks such as create_users, promote_user, edit_users, and delete_users that WP_REST_Users_Controller normally enforces. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with Subscriber-level access and above to create new Administrator accounts by sending POST request to /wp/v2/users with administrator role, or to reset an existing Administrator's password by issuing a PUT/POST request to /wp/v2/users/<id>. Because the block_user_enum option defaults to enabled, no special plugin configuration is required — the overwrite is active on every request as soon as the plugin is installed.

CVE-2026-15992 (GCVE-0-2026-15992)

Title
WP Password Policy <= 3.7.1 - Authenticated (Subscriber+) Privilege Escalation
Summary
The WP Password Policy plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in all versions up to and including 3.7.1. This is due to missing authorization checks and nonce verification in the `get_user()` function of the `Module_Password_Hint` class, which unconditionally calls `WP_User::set_role()` with the attacker-supplied `role` parameter on any account resolved via `$_POST['user_login']`, without confirming the requesting user holds the capability to assign roles. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to escalate their own privileges to Administrator by submitting a crafted POST request — with `action` set to `createuser` and `role` set to `administrator` — to the password-reset form endpoint. The vulnerable code path is reachable via the `password_hint` filter hooked during the WordPress password-reset form render, meaning an attacker need only possess a valid password-reset cookie to reach the sink.

This is due to missing authorization checks and nonce verification in the `get_user()` function of the `Module_Password_Hint` class, which unconditionally calls `WP_User::set_role()` with the attacker-supplied `role` parameter on any account resolved via `$_POST[\u0027user_login\u0027]`, without confirming the requesting user holds the capability to assign roles. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to escalate their own privileges to Administrator by submitting a crafted POST request \u2014 with `action` set to `createuser` and `role` set to `administrator` \u2014 to the password-reset form endpoint. The vulnerable code path is reachable via the `password_hint` filter hooked during the WordPress password-reset form render, meaning an attacker need only possess a valid password-reset cookie to reach the sink."

Title
Super Forms <= 6.3.316 - Unauthenticated Privilege Escalation via 'role' Parameter
Summary
The Super Forms – Drag & Drop Form Builder plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in all versions up to, and including, 6.3.316. This is due to the Register & Login add-on's before_email_success_msg() function whitelisting the client-submitted 'role' key and copying it into the user-data array that is passed directly to wp_insert_user(), without validating the submitted role against the administrator-configured register_user_role, without an allow-list, and without any current_user_can() capability check. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to register a new account with the Administrator role by injecting role=administrator into the data submitted to any published Super Forms registration form (register_login_action='register').

Title
Super Forms – Drag & Drop Form Builder <= 6.3.316 - Authenticated (Subscriber+) Privilege Escalation via 'user_id' Parameter in Register & Login
Summary
The Super Forms – Drag & Drop Form Builder plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in all versions up to, and including, 6.3.316. This is due to the Register & Login add-on's before_email_success_msg() function, in its register_login_action='update' flow, trusting an attacker-supplied user_id value and passing it to wp_update_user() without any ownership or capability check. Because the super_save_form AJAX action also enforces no capability check, any authenticated user with Subscriber-level access and above can create the required malicious form (register_login_action='update' with register_login_user_id_update='true') and then submit it with user_id set to an administrator's ID along with a new user_pass/user_email. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with Subscriber-level access and above to overwrite the credentials of arbitrary existing accounts — including administrators — resulting in account takeover and full site compromise.

Because the super_save_form AJAX action also enforces no capability check, any authenticated user with Subscriber-level access and above can create the required malicious form (register_login_action=\u0027update\u0027 with register_login_user_id_update=\u0027true\u0027) and then submit it with user_id set to an administrator\u0027s ID along with a new user_pass/user_email. Title
MemberPress Corporate Accounts <= 1.5.39 - Authenticated (Subscriber+) Privilege Escalation via Mass Assignment in Sub-Account Creation
Summary
The MemberPress Corporate Accounts plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in versions up to, and including, 1.5.39. This is due to a mass assignment vulnerability in the 'add_sub_account_user' function that passes the raw 'userdata' array to 'wp_insert_user' without filtering dangerous keys like role or ID. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above who hold a corporate account, to create new administrator accounts or hijack existing administrator accounts by overwriting their email addresses. The vulnerability was partially patched in version 1.5.39.

Title
AcyMailing <= 10.11.1 - Authenticated (Subscriber+) Missing Authorization to Account Takeover via Notification Template Update
Summary
The AcyMailing – An Ultimate Newsletter Plugin and Marketing Automation Solution for WordPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to authorization bypass in all versions up to, and including, 10.11.1. This is due to the plugin not properly verifying that a user is authorized to perform an action. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to overwrite the BCC field of the acy_notification_cms notification template, causing subsequent WordPress password-reset emails — including those targeting administrator accounts — to be silently copied to an attacker-controlled address, enabling account takeover via the captured reset link. Successful exploitation requires the site administrator to have enabled the "Send website emails with AcyMailing" option, which routes WordPress core notification emails through AcyMailing's templating system.

Title
Subscriptions for WooCommerce <= 2.0.0 - Authenticated (Contributor+) Privilege Escalation via '_wps_plan_user_role' Membership Plan Meta
Summary
The Subscriptions for WooCommerce plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in versions up to, and including, 2.0.0. This is due to the `save_meta_boxes()` function persisting the `_wps_plan_user_role` membership plan meta from `$_POST` without an allowlist that excludes privileged roles — the only validations applied, `sanitize_key()` and `wp_roles()->is_role()`, both accept `'administrator'` as a valid value, and the UI's `disabled` attribute on the role dropdown is a client-side-only control trivially bypassed via DevTools or a direct POST request; additionally, because the `wps_membership_plan` custom post type is registered with `capability_type => 'post'`, any user who can edit posts satisfies the `current_user_can('edit_post', $post_id)` guard in `save_meta_boxes()`. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Contributor-level access and above, to escalate their privileges to Administrator by storing `'administrator'` as the role granted on membership acquisition, which the Pro companion plugin then applies via `add_role()` during membership lifecycle events. Successful exploitation requires the Subscriptions for WooCommerce Pro companion plugin to be active, as it is the component that reads the stored `_wps_plan_user_role` meta via `get_post_meta()` and calls `add_role()` to apply the role during membership lifecycle events.

Title
Custom User Registration Fields for WooCommerce <= 2.2.3 - Unauthenticated Privilege Escalation via 'afreg_select_user_role' Parameter in Store API Checkout
Summary
The Custom User Registration Fields for WooCommerce plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in versions up to, and including, 2.2.3. This is due to the plugin accepting an attacker-controlled afreg_select_user_role value from the unauthenticated WooCommerce Store API /wc/store/v1/checkout request in the af_reg_checkout_data_to_order_meta_data_block() function, persisting it in order meta, and then passing it directly to WP_User::add_role() in the af_reg_custom_order_processing_function() function (hooked to woocommerce_thankyou) without validating against the plugin's admin-configured allowed role list. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to elevate their privileges to Administrator by creating an account during checkout with a modified JSON body specifying administrator (or any other role slug) as the desired role. Note: The exploit requires the "User Role Selection" setting to be enabled.

Mitigation MIT-1
Architecture and Design Operation

Very carefully manage the setting, management, and handling of privileges. Explicitly manage trust zones in the software.

Mitigation MIT-48
Architecture and Design

Strategy: Separation of Privilege

Follow the principle of least privilege when assigning access rights to entities in a software system.

Mitigation MIT-49
Architecture and Design

Strategy: Separation of Privilege

Consider following the principle of separation of privilege. Require multiple conditions to be met before permitting access to a system resource.

CAPEC-122: Privilege Abuse

An adversary is able to exploit features of the target that should be reserved for privileged users or administrators but are exposed to use by lower or non-privileged accounts. Access to sensitive information and functionality must be controlled to ensure that only authorized users are able to access these resources.

CAPEC-233: Privilege Escalation

An adversary exploits a weakness enabling them to elevate their privilege and perform an action that they are not supposed to be authorized to perform.

CAPEC-58: Restful Privilege Elevation

An adversary identifies a Rest HTTP (Get, Put, Delete) style permission method allowing them to perform various malicious actions upon server data due to lack of access control mechanisms implemented within the application service accepting HTTP messages.
